CLEVELAND'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
July 22nd - Happy Birthday Cleveland!
For over a century, the Early Settlers Association has been the only entity to annually sponsor and organize the observance of Cleveland's founding
in July 22, 1796. A large birthday cake is provided for those in attendance, as well as passersby during the noontime observance.
This annual event is usually held in the Southwest Quadrant of Public Square near the statue of General Moses Cleaveland. Fitting speeches
describing the founding of the city accompany the placement of a wreath by descendents to mark this occasion.
At this festivity, a presentation of the annual Herrick Memorial Award also takes place.
Every five years the newest inductees into the Hall of Fame are announced.
This event is open to the public. Join us in the annual celebration of Cleveland's founding!
